Biddy Connor Biddy Connor is FirstCut's Melbourne representative. She is a composing and performing musician with experience as a vocalist, violist, guitarist and keyboard player. For the first seven years of her musical life she sang and wrote songs with a Capella group Nude Rain (1989-1996), who toured festivals around Australia and independently released a CD, Drown. In 1995 Biddy completed a Bachelor of Music Performance, as a vocalist, in the Improvisation stream, Victorian College of the Arts. In 2002 she worked as a song-writing mentor on the BigHart project ‘Knot at Home’ (screening on SBS 2006/2007). In 2005 Biddy completed a Masters in Screen Composition at the Australian Film Television and Radio School, where she was one of four students.

 

In 2007 Biddy performed in the puppet show Dr. Egg and the Man with no Ear at the Opera House, Sydney, The Arts Centre, Melbourne and at the Awesome Festival in Perth. Films that Biddy has composed for have been screened at festivals around Australia and internationally. In 2005 Biddy was nominated for an award at the APRA-AGSC Screen Music Awards in the category of Best Music for a Documentary for her work on the film, ‘Switch on the Night’. At the 2006 Park City Film Music Festival, USA, Biddy received a Gold Medal for excellence for her work on the short film ‘Danya’ and a Silver Medal for Excellence - Audience Choice for Best Impact of Music in an Animated Short Film for "The First Thing I Remember ". Biddy has also worked as a session violist for Tim Finn, Blue King Brown, Jen Cloher, Ned Collette, and Grand Salvo among many others. Biddy will be releasing under the moniker SAILOR DAYS in 2010, funded by Victoria Rocks, an initiative of Arts Victoria.
