FirstCut StudioFirstCut was built from the ground up as a music and sound-post production suite, fully sound-proofed with recording room and mixing room. The brain of the studio is a Mac Pro based ProTools 8 system working with a host of mics, pre-amps, keyboards, instruments and other sound equipment. It has a state of the art sample library and can produce amazing sounding MIDI based music. The recording room can record up to 2 musicians simultaneously, and has a flip out bench for setting up a second computer sound setup if required. When more musicians need to be recorded, we walk downstairs to Linear Recording. FirstCut also has an 8 seat meeting room and coffee, tea, and full kitchen facilities.

Linear Recording and FirstCut Studio are in the same funky warehouse in Leichhardt. While FirstCut mainly focuses on screen-based music and sound work, Linear concentrates on the exquisite live recordings of musicians. Chris Vallejo's studio has been built from the ground up to offer bands and artists a world-class, technically proficient but highly creative workspace. It offers a blend of well-maintained vintage gear and state-of-the-art equipment in rooms that are highly conducive to making music. Whilst the technical aspect of the studios is paramount, sessions are run with an emphasis on creativity, vibe and capturing performance. For tracking, Linear offers analogue tape as well as digital delivery, in fact, on 90% of sessions it’s a combination of analogue tape (for tracking) and digital magic (for overdubs and editing).
Linear boasts a fine collection of vintage and modern instruments, including a huge collection of vintage keyboards, amps, drums and percussion. Linear's huge discography covers virtually all musical genres including Jazz, Indie, Classical, Metal, Country, Dance and everything in between. Artists such as Empire of the Sun, INXS, The Presets, Sneaky Sound System, Leroy Lee, Katie Noonan, Josh Pyke have all recorded or mixed at Linear.

For 5.1 Surround mixes for large screen projects (feature films, advertisments etc), we work in the brand new mixing theatre at Definition Films, in the Sound Firm Building at Fox Studios. It is a large purpose ProTools HD based theatre with big-screen capabilities. It is also home to a select group of professional sound mixers. Once the mix is complete, we have the capabilities of conforming the final sound to picture, from Digibeta, DVD to hi-res HD quicktimes. It also has a whole host of post-production capabilities like edit suites and grading.
